Como cada primer lunes de octubre, se celebra el Día Mundial de la Arquitectura y el Habitat.
EL LEMA DE ESTE AÑO ES «DISEÑO PARA LA SALUD»
Tras la pandemia y el confinamiento, los arquitectos deseamos compartir reflexiones sobre cómo el diseño de viviendas y ciudades puede afectar a nuestra salud física y mental.
En 1985, la Asamblea General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, atendiendo a una recomendación de la Comisión de Asentamientos Humanos, designó que el primer lunes de octubre de cada año sería el Día Mundial del Hábitat, con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre el estado de nuestras ciudades, al mismo tiempo que premiar organizaciones o individuos por su excelente contribución a la mejora de las condiciones de los asentamientos humanos.
En 1997, la Unión Internacional de Arquitectos (UIA) decidió sumarse a esta iniciativa y también instituyó el primer lunes de octubre de cada año como Día Mundial de la Arquitectura, coincidiendo con el Día Mundial del Hábitat. Desde entonces, en esta fecha se celebran varias actividades conmemorativas a escala mundial por parte de las secciones nacionales de la UIA, las agrupaciones profesionales de arquitectos y otras instituciones vinculadas con la arquitectura.

El presidente de la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia, Roberto Cicutto, confirmó que la nueva edición se llevará a cabo del 20 de mayo al 26 de noviembre de 2023.
El tema de la edición número 18 de esta exposición internacional será “El Laboratorio del Futuro” y el protagonista será el continente africano.

The 60th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2022, which will take place from the 7th till the 12th of June 2022 at the Fiera Milano Rho, is reflecting on the ongoing ecological transition of the design world, with a mission to «demonstrate that it is both possible and crucial to start embedding sustainability and environmental awareness into furniture production». More than 2,000 exhibitors, including over 600 young designers under the age of 35, will express their own identities and creative freedom, using the exhibition space as both an architectural and communication element with sustainability and ecology as main criteria.

La Biennale di Venezia, led by president Roberto Cicutto, has announced Lesley Lokko as director of the architecture sector for 2023’s 18th International Architecture Exhibition – the famous Venice Architecture Biennale.
Academic, educator and novelist Lokko brings her extensive experience to the role, drawing on the postgraduate school of architecture and public events platform, African Futures Institute in Accra, Ghana, which she founded in 2020. She is also director and founder of the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg.
